Shuttlers Shinta Mulia Sari & Yao Lei also gave the Team Singapore camp plenty to cheer about when they took silver in the women's doubles. They lost 16-21 , 19-21 to the Indian partnership of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa Machimanda.

But the day and the championships belonged to the paddlers. In the all-Singaporean men's singles final, Yang Zi (pictured, right) defeated Gao Ning (pictured, left). In the women's doubles, which was also an all-Singaporean affair, Li Jiawei & Sun Beibei overcame favourites Feng Tianwei & Wang Yuegu. With the latest success, the paddlers ended up with six out of the seven gold medals on offer in the table tennis competition.

Best Ever

Apart from the paddlers, our shooters, who clinched five gold medals, also had a great outing at this Commonweath Games. Overall, Team Singapore won 11 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze medals, a result which marked the nation's best-ever performance.
