Paddlers Clarence Chew (pictured) and Isabelle Li progressed to the second stage of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) boys' and girls' singles events yesterday (Saturday, 21 August) following two wins and a defeat each at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Stage 2

Clarence then beat Sweden's, Hampus Soderlund 3-1 (9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-8) in his Stage 2 match. Isabelle wasn't so fortunate as she went down to Korea's, Yang Ha Eun 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-5).

Stage 1

Opponents Clarence beat to move to Stage 2 were Malawi's, Patrick Massah and Tunisia's, Adem Hmam. He lost to Taiwan's, Hung Tzu Hsiang. Isabelle defeated Guernsey's, Alice Loveridge and New Zealand's, Julia Wu but fell to Japan's, Ayuka Tanioka.
