For shooter Ong Jun Hong (flag bearer) and swimmer Quah Ting Wen (pledge taker), the SEA Games Flag Presentation ceremony held this evening (Nov 9) at Nanyang Polytechnic was a special moment in their sporting careers.
Big Transition
In a way, it marked their big transition from being "one of the young athletes" to the senior ranks. For though they are still young in terms of age, they are now the ones team mates look up to, given their consistent record in major meets.
Well-Wishing Campaign
Gracing the event were national leaders like Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Defence and President, Singapore National Olympic Council, and Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth & Sports. One highlight of the evening was the launch of the Team Singapore Well-Wishing Campaign which featured guests sending SMS messages to wish our athletes all the best in the coming SEA Games competition in Laos.
