Call it the Gold Rush, Singapore style, as our athletes clinched gold medals across a range of sports today (Dec 10) at the SEA Games in Vientiane, Laos. Leading the way were the swimmers, shooters and paddlers.
Swimming
In the pool, Quah Ting Wen (Women's 100m Freestyle), Zach Ong (Men's 200m Backstroke), Tao Li (Women's 200m backstroke) and the relay teams (Men's 4x200m Freestyle and Women's 4x200m Freestyle) all won gold to give Singapore a superb start in the swimming competition.
Shooting
In Shooting, Zhang Jin made his mark by winning the Men's 10m Air Rifle individual title. He also teamed up with Ong Jun Hong and Jonathan Koh to earn the team title. Goh Jia Yi shone by finishing first in the Women's 10m Air Rifle individual event.
Table Tennis
In Table Tennis, the women's team and men's team secured gold medals with victories in the finals (over Thailand in both cases). The women's team is made up of Feng Tianwei, Sun Beibei (pictured), Wang Yuegu, Zena Sim and Yu Mengyu. The men's team comprise Gao Ning, Yang Zi, Cai Xiaoli, Pang Xue Jie and Lim Jie Yan.
