Another gold each from Shooting and Table Tennis, two silvers from Golf and defeat for the Young Lions. These were among the highlights for Team Singapore today (Dec 14) at the SEA Games in Vientiane.
Shooting & Table Tennis
In Shooting, the trio of Gai Bin, Nigel Lim and Poh Lip Meng won our sixth gold in the sport when they took the Men's 50m Pistol 60 Shots event with their score of 1,646. Vietnam (1,618) claimed the silver while Thailand (1,615) took the bronze. In Table Tennis, Feng Tianwei & Wang Yuegu started out as the favourites but lost the gold to team mates Sun Beibei & Yu Mengyu in the Women's Doubles event.
Golf & Football
In Golf, Johnson Poh (pictured) showed fine form to win the silver in the men's individual event. He also combined well with Jonathan Woo, Jonathan Leong and Lam Zhiqun to take the silver in the team category. But there was painful defeat for our footballers. Their impressive run here ended with a 1-4 semi-final loss to Vietnam. Khairul Nizam gave us a 1-0 lead but the Vietnamese came back strongly to earn a well-deserved place in the Finals.
