They went, they delivered, they are back. That about sums up the neat script of the Singapore Water Polo boys (pictured) who came home from Laos last night with yet another SEA Games Water Polo gold medal - our 23rd consecutive in the regional competition.

Loud Cheers

Appropriately, they were warmly received at Changi Airport's Terminal One by family members and supporters. Loud cheers greeted them as they walked through the gates with gold medals around their necks. Cameras clicked as the boys basked in the limelight, complete with hand shakes, congratulations and hugs.

Moment Of Glory

It was a time to savour the moment of glory. Days earlier, it was all work as they faced Thailand in an encounter which was closer than expected. In the end, they prevailed, winning 8-5. Before that, they overcame Indonesia (14-5) and the Philippines (8-1) with ease. The team included not only seasoned players like Yip Ren Kai, Terence Tan, Luo Nan and Alvin Lee but also "newbies" like Lin Yaoxiang, Samuel Loh and Andy Chin.
