Singapore's silat team (in picture) head for the SEA Games in Laos this month (Dec) with high morale following encouraging results in recent meets. For instance, at the 3rd Asian Indoor Games held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, our exponents shone with medals.

Medal Potential

In particular, Yusak Rabiatul Adawiyah showed her potential with gold in the women's single tunggal, the same event she has been entered for in Laos. Others who made their mark in Ho Chi Minh included Mohamad Julaimi Nur Dinniyati (bronze in the woman's class B) and Mohd Julaimi Mohd Saifullah (bronze in the men's Class D).

Well Rounded

The team's confidence comes not just from their good results in recent meets. It also comes from the fact that we have traditionally done well at the SEA Games. In Laos, we are fielding a fairly well-rounded team. Hopes for medals aren't just confined to a few star athletes. Instead, many in the team stand a chance of a podium finish if they maintain the form they have shown during training. Other members of the team in Laos include Zukhairi Zulhanif, Mohd Saifuddin M Julaimi and Mohd Elyasak Said among the men and Nurindah Mursani and Saiedah Said among the women.
