Fruitful Day

It was a fruitful Day 1 for Singapore's shooters at the SEA Games in Vientiane as the trio of Jonathan Koh, Zhang Jin (pictured) and Ong Jun Hong clinched gold in the Men's 10m Air Rifle team event while their team mates also won medals.

Gold, Silver, Bronze

Finishing first, Jonathan, Zhang Jin and Jun Hong scored a total of 1,755 points, ahead of Thailand (1,752) and Vietnam (1,744). Also doing well were Gai Ping, On Shaw Ming and Poh Lip Meng who won bronze in the Men's 25m Standard Pistol event with their score of 1668, behind Thailand (1677) and Vietnam (1669). Gai Ping also did well in the individual event, winning silver with a score of 566, just one short of Thailand's Karndee Prakarn who took the gold.

Narrow Loss

The women contributed too as Goh Jia Yi, Aqilah Sudhir and Haw Siew Peng won bronze in the Women's 10m Air Rifle event with a total score of 1,167. They lost narrowly to their Thai and Malaysian opponents who won gold and silver respectively.
