Some, like swimmer Tao Li and shooter Jasmine Ser, are familiar names who delivered as expected here in Vientiane. Others are almost unheard outside of their respective sports even just a few weeks ago. But they share one common title now: "SEA Games Gold Medallists".

New Faces

Among the new faces are swimmers Joshua Lim (pictured) and Zach Ong, shooter Goh Jia Yi and Silat exponent Rabiatul Adawiyah Bte Yusak. Joshua showed sizzling form in the pool. Apart from doing well as a relay team member, he clinched bronzes in the 200m Individual Medley and 200m Freestyle. Zach got the Singapore men's swim team off to a flying start with gold in the 200m Backstroke on the opening day of action in the pool. Like Joshua, he too was a reliable relay team member.

Dream Debut

Jia Yi shone by finishing first in the Women's 10m Air Rifle event, showing maturity beyond her years. As for Rabiatul, she made a dream debut by clinching gold  in the Tunggal (Women) event as she edged out Vietnam's Vu Thi Thao and Indonesia's Nih Lu Putu.
