Singapore's national water polo team head for Vientiane, Laos, on Dec 2 all set to achieve what their seniors had always done: win gold at the SEA Games.
Seasoned & New
This year's team has a mixture of seasoned and new players. Leading the way with their experience are players like Yip Ren Kai, Luo Nan and Alvin Lee. At the same time, new faces include Lin Yaoxiang, Samuel Loh and Andy Chin.
Strong Competition
Teams which are expected to provide strong competition include Thailand and the Philippines. But our boys are ready for the task ahead. Wang Jian Guang, one of the coaches, said preparations have been on track. "The pressure to deliver gold and maintain our proud record of always finishing first at the SEA Games is there but the team are prepared for the challenge ahead." As part of their preparations, they trained and competed in Korea, Kazakhstan and Kuwait. They also played with visiting teams from the Philippines and Thailand.
