Some 200 Team Singapore's SEA Games athletes, officials and supporters were treated to a dinner hosted by the Singapore embassy in Vientiane on Tuesday (15 Dec) evening. There were praises all round for the hosts, Laos, as everyone put aside the intense pressure of competition over the last few days.
Successful Hosting
Reflecting on the successful hosting of the Games, Singapore ambassador to Laos, Benjamin Jeyaraj William, said, “They have done a great job. The organization has been smooth, the people are warm and everything has been done very well.” Singapore’s Chef de Mission Jessie Phua added, “The people here have been simply fantastic in their efforts. Glitches are kept to a minimal and the overall feeling we get is one that is really pleasing.”
Well Done
On the performance of our athletes, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development Youth and Sports, Teo Ser Luck, said, “We’ve done well, better than expected in fact. Considering the number of sports offered and the sports that we’ve participated in, it’s been a job well done so far.”
Great Food
The athletes, including the swimmers and paddlers who won 14 and 6 golds respectively, were in high spirits. The great food at the dinner was a talking point. Among those who enjoyed it were Wushu exponent Samuel Seah, Silat coach Sheik Alau’ddin and paddler Wang Yuegu.
