They have been all action. Now that the gold medals are in the bags, paddlers Feng Tianwei and Gao Ning and billiard player Peter Gilchrist (pictured) are in the mood to talk. Here they share their experiences after winning their respective events on Tuesday (Dec 15).
Too Strong
Feng, ranked world number 6, proved too strong for fellow Singaporean Wang Yuegu in the finals of the Women's Singles event as she won 4-1. Speaking in Mandarin, she said, “I’m very happy to have won. There was not much pressure because I was playing my own teammate but we both played our best to ensure the match was of the highest standard.”
Good Fight
Gao Ning also gave a dominant performance in the Men's Singles Finals event as he overcame team mate Yang Zi 4-1. He said in Mandarin, "It was a close match in terms of points scored and it did not matter who won. What mattered was we both put up a good fight for the gold medal. We did that today." Overall, our paddlers won six golds, one less than the record seven they achieved in the last SEA Games in Korat two years ago.
Asian Gold?
Gilchrist won the Men's English Billiards Singles title when he beat Myanmar's Kyaw Oo 3-1. On his experience, he said, “This has been a good win but the Asian Games gold is what I really want. I will work towards my goal."
