With all the limelight on the SEA Games gold medallists or even medallists from popular sports like Shooting, Table Tennis and Swimming, it is all too easy to forget the athletes who have done well in the "quiet" sports here in Vientiane. Here we cast the spotlight precisely on these athletes.
Some Applause
In Silat, Rabiatul Adawiyah Bte Yusak gets the attention for winning gold in the Tunggal (Women) event as she edged out Vietnam's Vu Thi Thao and Indonesia's Nih Lu Putu. But some applause is in order too for teammates Mohd Saifullah Julaimi, Mohd Saifuddin Julaimi, Mohd Elyasak Said, Mohd Nur Shafiq Saiful and Saiedah Said (pictured) who all earned bronzes.
Some Coverage
In Wushu, the focus has rightly been on Khor Poh Chin, Tao Yijun and Tay Yujuan who narrowly clinched gold in the Duilian with Weapon (Womens Taolu) event. But spare a thought too for silver medallists Fung Jin Jie, Samuel Seah and Jaryl Tay who shone in the Duilian Barehand (Mens Taolu) event. Others whom the media might want to give some coverage to include bronze medallists like Karate's Tay Qingyuan, Judo's Cai Ren Jun & Ngo Yee Ling, Cycling's Dinah Chan, Boxing's Khairul A. Bin Hamid, and Cue Sports' Chan Keng Kwang & Toh Lian Han.
