Swimmer Tao Li clinched the women’s 200m fly gold but it was Arren Quek who stole the show with his win in the men’s 50m free as the SEA Games swimming competition entered its third day at the Jakabaring Aquatics Centre this evening (Nov 14).
10 Gold Medals
Adding to these two gold medals were Shana Lim in the women’s 50m back and the men’s 4x100m free relay team comprising Arren, Russell Ong, Clement Lim and Danny Yeo. In all, Team Singapore have won 10 gold medals from the pool after three days of competition.
Perfect Start
Tonight, Arren gave his team a perfect start when he took the men’s 50m free in 23.28s, ahead of Indonesia's Fauzy Triady (23.32s). Russell (23.33s) also did well to win the bronze. Tao Li led from start to finish to take the women’s 200m fly in 2:14.27. Shana clocked 29.37s to win her 50m back gold while the men’s relay team won their title in 3:23.35.
More Medals
There were more medals for Singapore on this successful evening. In the women’s 400m free, Koh Hui Yu (4:23.00) won bronze. In the men’s 200m back, Zach Ong (2:03.06) and Rainer Ng (2:05.15) clinched the silver and bronze respectively.
