Team Singapore’s bowlers Jazreel Tan, Cherie Tan and Daphne Tan clinched silver in the women's trios event while Sasha Christian, who had won gold in wakeboarding, earned a silver too in waterskiing on Day 6 (Nov 17) of the SEA Games in Indonesia.

Narrow Loss

At the Jaya Ancol Bowling Centre in Jakarta, the keglers bowled a total of 3,763 pinfalls to lose narrowly to a team from Thailand (3,777). Competing in Palembang, Sasha finished second in the women's slalom event, behind Malaysia's highly experienced Yoong Bayly Phillipa.

Good News

There was more good news for Singapore athletes competing in the Indonesian capital. At the Istora Senayan Stadium, shuttler Fu Mingtian, for example, moved into the quarter finals of the women's singles  after beating Malaysian Liddia Cheah 23-21, 21-14. Her team mate Derek Wong, competing in the men’s singles,  also advanced to the semi finals after a stunning victory over Vietnam’s Nguyen Minh Tien 21-14, 21-15.

Several Bronzes

There were bronzes from other sports as well. They came from Saiyidah Aisyah in rowing, Brandon Boon in open water swimming and Hoe Shu Wah in billiards. In boxing, Muhamad Ridhwan Ahmad, already assured of a bronze, will now aim higher when he takes on Indonesia's Matius Mandiangan in the semi finals on Saturday.
