A day after winning individual gold, kegler Cherie Tan teamed up with her sister Daphne to clinch silver today (Nov 16) in the women’s doubles event of the SEA Games bowling competition in Jakarta.
Tight Contest
In a tight contest, the sisters scored a total of 2456 total pinfalls, just behind Malaysia’s Zandra Aziela and Jacqueline Sijore (2463) but ahead of another Malaysian pair, Sharon Koh and Dayang Khairuniza (2413). On winning the silver, Cherie said, “I’m disappointed to miss out on the gold by a bit. We didn’t have that extra bit of luck.”
Good Chemistry
Looking forward to the other events ahead, she added, “Hopefully tomorrow would not be like this. We would try to ensure we are far, far ahead. Such close matches are bad for the audience.” Asked about being paired with her sister, she said, “We are very close, so it definitely helped that we had good chemistry going into this match as partners.”
Other Pairs
The other Singapore pairs also did well. New Hui Fen/Shayna Ng (2372) and JasmineYeong-Nathan/Jazreel Tan (2357) were placed sixth and seventh respectively.
