Singapore’s footballers crashed out of the SEA Games competition despite a 2-0 victory over Thailand today (Nov 17) but their team mates in swimming continued to create waves with two more wins tonight, bringing their total gold medal haul to a record 17.

At the Senayan Stadium in Jakarta, the Young Lions won but hosts Indonesia's 0-1 defeat to Malaysia hours later meant they would not be in the semi-finals for the first time since 2005.

In contrast, there was glory for the swim team at the Jakabaring Aquatic Centre in Palembang. Teo Zhen Ren shocked everyone when he clinched gold in the men's 1500m free, clocking 15:44.32. Then hot favourite Tao Li, as expected, won the women's 50m fly in 26.59 secs. Another swimmer who did well tonight was Joseph Schooling who won silver in the men’s 200m IM. The men’s 4x100m medley relay team finished second behind Indonesia but was disqualified.
