BIG MEETS AHEAD
(Paddlers & Bodybuilders Get Ready For Action)

Singapore's paddlers and bodybuilders will be in action in major meets right here later this month. The 5th South-east Asian Table Tennis Championships will be on from May 24 to May 28 while the 8th South-east Asian & Singapore Invitational Open Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships will take place from May 20-21.
Paddlers
For the table tennis event, Singapore will be led by Commonwealth Games multiple gold medallist Zhang Xueling.
Li Jiawei will not feature in the championships as she will be away to represent her Hungarian club in the country's league final.
Others expected to don our national colours at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall include Tan Paey Fern, Cai Xiaoli and Yang Zi.
Bodybuilding
As for the bodybuilding competition,Singapore will be well represented by both seasoned athletes as well as newer faces, including Adrian Tan and Tong Chin Wee (pix).
They will all be hoping to shine and eventually earn a much-coveted place in the Singapore team for the Asian Games in Doha at the end of the year.
They will surely also want to pick up tips from world champions Kamal Abdull Salamm and Ali Tabrizi Nouri of Qatar who will pose as guests at the championships.
In all, the competition will feature some 50 competitors from 23 countries, including favourites Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
