YET ANOTHER FEAT
Youngsters Justin Liu & Sherman Cheng Win Big In Australia

Sailors Justin Liu and Sherman Cheng (picture), already SEA Games and Asian Games champions, scored yet another feat recently when they clinched the 29er Australian National Championships Youth and Open crowns.

Beating Favourites

The 420-class specialists finished first among the 81-strong fleet at Melbourne's Mordialloc Sailing Club. In the process, they beat home favourites Byron White and William Ryan (second), New Zealand's Alexandra Maloney and Blair Tuke (third) and Denmark's Henrik Sogaard and Soren Kristensen (fourth). The Danes were last year's International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Youth World Championships 29er champions.

Coming Up


Up next for the Singaporeans is the coming 29er World Championships which will be held in Melbourne. The 16-year-olds are also expected to compete at this year's ISAF Youth World Championships in Denmark in July. Apart from Justin and Sherman, other Singapore sailors who did well recently in Melbourne inlcluded Griselda Khng, Cecilia Low, Timothy Seet and Terry Tang.
