Sailors Sherman Cheng and Justin Liu (pix), who struck gold at last year's Asian Games in Doha, were among the TS athletes to make the news recently, alongside shuttler Ronald Susilo.
Making A Mark
The 420 sailors made their mark when they won the Junior European crown in Medemblik, Netherlands. The boys, both 16, also showed good form when they won their event at the 420 National Championship in June. Despite strong wind conditions on the waters of Lake IJssel off Medemblik, they held their own to beat rivals in the 116-boat fleet.
Impressive Run
Meanwhile, Ronald showed his class with an upset win over world No 4 Chen Jin in the World Championships at the Putra Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. Though he eventually lost to another Chinese, Chen Yu, his run to the quarter-finals was impressive.
