He upset world No 3 Chen Jin of China in the Aviva Open in Singapore last week. Now Kendrick Lee (pix) has claimed another victim. He has beaten world No 19 Dicky Palyama at the Djarum Indonesia Open now taking place in Jakarta.
Winning In Style
The young Singaporean, ranked eight places below his Dutch opponent, earned victory in style, winning 21-14, 19-21, 21-15. Up next for him is New Zealand's John Moody.
Ronald's Out
Meanwhile, Ronald Susilo, who reached the semi finals at the Aviva Open, found the going tough at the Istora Senayan Indoor Stadium. The world No 23 lost to Hong Kong's world No 22 Ng Wei 18-21, 21-18, 18-21.
Women's Singles
In the women's singles, Singapore's challenge ended early. Li Li lost to seventh seed Pi Hongyan of France 19-21, 9-21 while Xing Aiying put up a fight before going down to Taiwan's Pai Min Jie 22-20, 18-21, 16-21.
Towards Beijing
The US$250,000 Super Series event is the second after the Aviva Open to offer points for qualification at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
