SEA Games Flag Presentation Ceremony
By Joshua Tan Between 35 and 45 gold medals and personal bests. That's what Singapore's athletes competing at the SEA Games between Dec 6 and 15 in Korat, Bangkok and Pattaya have been challenged to aim for. Medal Hopes
According to chef de mission Low Teo Ping, our medal hopes are in sports like swimming, table tennis, sailing, bowling, shooting, silat, water polo and badminton. Among the athletes to look our for are swimmer Tao Li and bowler Remy Ong (pix). Flag Bearer Team Singapore will field a total of 424 athletes in 35 sports. Among them is Kendrick Lee, who will be our flag-bearer at the opening ceremony on Dec 6. Significantly, among our athletes, as many as 192 are aged below 21, an indication of our emphasis on youth. This augurs well for us in our bid to host the inaugural Youth Olympics in 2011. Para Games Friday's event was also for the Singapore contingent heading to the Asean Para Games in Korat from Jan 17-26. At this competition, we will field 62 disabled athletes, including flag-bearer Mohd Syah Rezal.
