Shooters Clinch Five Gold Medals At SEA Games
By Joshua Tan Singapore had a fine harvest at the SEA Games in Bangkok today (Nov 28), winning five gold medals. Leading the way were individual gold medallists Gai Bin (10m air pistol, picture), Jonathan Koh (10m air rifle) and Mohamed Zain Amat (trap). Fine Scores In addition, Jonathan and Zain won gold as part of the 10m air rifle team and trap team respectively. Their fine performances were well supported by team mates. Ong Jun Hong (10m air rifle) clinched silver as did the 50m free pistol team. On his part, veteran Lee Wung Yew (trap) collected a bronze. In the 10m air pistol (individual), Gai Bin scored 674.4 points to edge out Thailand's Panichpatikum Jakkrit (672.3) and Vietnam's Tran Quoc Cuong (671.7). Jonathan's 690.6 points in the 10m air rifle (individual) enabled him to triumph over team mate Jun Hong (687.5) and Philippines' Emerito Concepcion (686.9).
More Medals
The 10m air rifle team's combined score of 1,767points put us ahead of Thailand (1,753) and Vietnam (1,744). In the trap (individual), Zain scored 125 points to win on countback against Thailand's Kitcharoen Atig and Wung Yew, who both also had 125 points. Our trap team's total of 309 was superior to Philippines' 312 and Malaysia's 309. As for our 50m pistol team, they scored 1,633 points to finish behind winner Thailand (1,654) but ahead of Vietnam (1,63).
