Swimmer Nicolette Teo, shuttler Ronald Susilo (pix) and bowler Bernice Lim are among the in-form athletes to do Team Singapore proud this month. We trace their lastest success briefly.

New Record

Nicolette, 21, smashed her own national mark in the 100m breaststroke at the United States National Championships in Indianapolis with her time of 1min 10.93sec in the preliminaries. This improved on her previous record of 1:11.07, set at last month's Janet Evans Invitational in Los Angeles. An undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles, she finished second in the C Final with a time of 1:11.20.

Significant Win

On his part, Ronald scored a significant first round win at the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur. He beat Scotland's Alistair Casey 22-20 , 21-12 to earn a meeting against Wales' Richard Vaughan. Top players featured in this prestigious tournament include China's Lin Dan and Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat.

Dream Debut

In bowling, 16-year-old Bernice made a dream debut when she claimed the women's Open crown at the Indonesian Open bowling championships. The Singapore Sports School student defeated Malaysia's Trish Khoo in the step-ladder grand final. Earlier, she overcame a strong field to top the qualifiers. Among those she beat were 2005 SEA Games women's Masters gold medallist Liza Clutario of the Philippines, Indonesia's Putty Armein and Hong Kong's Chan Shuk Han.
