By Peh Siong San & Christopher Ong in Bangkok
Singapore's success continues at the SEA Games today (Nov 30), with the double trap shooters clinching team gold with convincing performances. Mohd Zain Amat, Choo Choon Seng and Tan Chee Keong combined well, earning a score of 368 to beat second-placed Thailand by 20 points and third-placed Malaysia by 36.
More Good News
There was more good news as Choon Seng finished with a score of 165 to win individual gold, ahead of silver medallist Chee Keong (162) and Thailand's Khamgasem Athimeth (159) who won bronze. On the team's success, Zain said, "We wanted the gold. But confidence and certainty are two different things. All you can do is go out there and shoot your best."
Nice Bronze
Meanwhile, Kasmijan Bin Kimin, Andy Chee Kwet Chian and Ong Jun Hong did Singapore proud in the 50m rifle prone with their bronze. Their combined score of 1748 placed them just behind Thailand (1762) and Myanmar (1755). Jun Hong said, "We were not expecting much since Singapore has never been strong in this event. Furthermore, there are many South-East Asian countries that are very strong in this. That's why we are very happy with the result."
