TOWARDS PROMOTION
(Singapore's Shuttlers Are On Track In Sudirman's Cup)

The quest continues as Singapore's shuttlers, including Ronald Susilo (pix), seek promotion to the premier division. So far, things look on track, following wins over Germany (4-1), Sweden (5-0) and Taiwan (3-2).

Japanese Challenge

Standing in the way is Japan, whom they need to beat in the Division Two play-off, at the Scotstoun International Arena in Glasgow, to proceed to the eight-team Division One.

Good Form

Among the players who showed good form in Team Singapore's wins were Hendri Saputra and Li Yujia in the mixed doubles and Kendrick Lee in the men's singles. In the tie against Germany, for example, Hendri and Yujia beat Ingo Kindervater and Kathrin Piotrowski 21-16, 21-11 while Kendrick defeated Marcel Reuter 21-10, 23-21.

Close Encounters

In the match against Japan, Singapore, the Division Two top seeds, will need to be in top form to achieve its dream of promotion. The ties are expected to be close. Watch this space as we bring you the latest from Glasgow.
